The girl's school has a Spring Bonnet Parade every year. It's basically a bunch of kids and babies donning homemade bonnets, marching around in a very unorganized circle. Its cute, and some kids (actually, the parents) go all out in designing their hats. We don't put that much effort into it. Alex wore Addie's hat from last year. As you can tell, we worked really hard on hers. This year, Addie (actually, I) thread a bit of pink ribbon through a $1 bonnet we picked up as an after thought at Target. Although I wasn't extremely impressed with the outcome, Addie seemed to like it. Maybe we'll just keep adding to it every year.
In addition to the "parade," the kids celebrated Spring by releasing their butterflies, which they had watched grow from catepillar to butterfly stage. At first, the butterflies didn't want to leave their cozy cages. After a bit of persuasion, the butterflies took flight, which both startled and excited the kids (especially Addie). Addie didn't quite know what to think when the teacher put one on her hat... the expression on her face says it all.
